As an educator, I try to remember the advice of one of my professors, “You may not know everything, but know your students.” Therefore, I strive to put my students first. When creating lessons and developing instruction, I aim to create an educational experience that is not only beneficial to the students but also takes into account students’ experiences, background, and support needs. I believe that students deserve a meaningful education. One that sets them up for success beyond the classroom. However, I don’t view myself as just an educator. I am a member of my classroom community. As such, I will instruct, listen, support, understand, and learn.
